Water Purification Systems
Having clean drinking water during an elk hunt is a MUST. All the walking you do requires that you to drink A LOT of water to prevent dehydration. If you are hunting with a guide or outfitter, they may have plenty of drinking water available for you. If you are a DIY’er, and plan to pack back in the mountains, you’ll need to make sure you have access to plenty of drinking water. For anyone that has made that trek into the wilderness on a pack-in hunt, carrying enough water for a week just isn’t an option. There are several very good portable water filtration systems available that will allow you to hunt with the confidence of knowing you have access to plenty of safe drinking water.
When selecting a product, you should be sure that the system meets standards for eliminating cyptosporidium, and is compliant with the EPA microbiological water purifier test standards.
